Thanks to Reilly Magargee, Logan Edge, Cai Hepner, Jacob Rainbow, and Henry Rhein who came out as 17th and 18th place alternates for finals in case there were scratches. After the boys finals, we walked to Chipotles and Panera Bread for lunch before coming back to the girls finals.
In the girls finals, we had 2 more broken Team Records and a number of personal best times! In the 200 IM event, we had 3 girls place in the top 10 in the state (last year they held 3 positions in the top 13 in this event)!
Emi Cranker placed 5th in the 200 IM with a near personal best time of 2:10.54.
Marissa Baker placed 9th in 200 IM with a personal best time of 2:17.71.
Abby Rose place 10th in the 200 IM with a personal best time of 2:19.72.
Abby Rose broke another Team Record in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:31.23, dropping more than 2 seconds off her previous best time set at State Prelims. She moved up a place to finish at #12 in this event.
Emi Cranker broke another Team Record in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 57.05, dropping almost a half second off her previous best time. She finished in 2nd place, reaching the podium again in this event for the 4th year in a row.
The girls 400 Medley Relay Team of Marissa Baker, Grace Duquette, Abby Rose, and Emi Cranker finished in 13th place with a time of 3:57.68. Marissa swam a personal best 100 freestyle time of 58.18 as relay leadoff. Marissa moves from #3 to #2 on the all-time top 16 list for this event. Grace swam a personal best 100 Freestyle split time of 1:04.27.
The girls team scored 60 points at State Finals and finished at their highest position ever at 13th out of 40 State High Schools in Delaware!

Many of our swimmers, managers, and family members went to Applebees after the finals were over, where we ended another great State Championship week. Thanks to our team chaperones this year: Dorrie Duquette, Julie Rainbow, and Debbie Edge. We would also like to thank our other parent helpers Betsy Marks, Kristen Rose, Karen Cranker, Claire Ritter, Allison Johnson, Amber Baker, and Stephanie Magargee for all their time and efforts.
Thanks to Mount Sophia staff and students who came to many of our swim events (meets and restaurants) and cheered us on.
Thanks to all of our swim team members and families! We hope all who have not graduated will come back again next year, and we wish God’s blessings on all our graduates as they move on to the next chapters of their lives…..and that they will come back and visit us!
