Spring Driver’s Ed (Some of our students have used this program and liked it): ASPIRA Driver Education Program SPRING 2021

Due to the state’s response to COVID-19 our  Driver Education Classes will be held online. Final Exam Testing will be done in person, in very limited groups, at very specific times.   Classroom sessions will be held via ZOOM.  Email updates and invitations will be sent out for students to participate..

Classroom Phase
Students must attend ALL of our online classes during each session in order to obtain their 30 mandated instructional hours:  PLEASE SELECT ONLY ONE SESSION, I II, III, IV or V
*Any session that does not get at least 16 students, will be subject to rescheduling to the subsequent month/session. 
JANUARY Online Classroom Session I: 
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday  January 11th, 12th, 13th 14th and 15th, 4PM-7 PM
Tuesday & Thursday, January 19th and 21st from 4PM- 7PM
Monday, January 25st will be an IN PERSON FINAL EXAM at ASPIRA.
Driving for Session I students will be scheduled on off days and weekends.
 FEBRUARY Online Classroom Session II: 
    Monday, Tuesday, Thursday &  Friday  February 8th, 9th, 11th and 12th from 4PM-7PM
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, February 16th, 17th and 18th from 4PM- 7PM
Monday, February 22nd will be an IN PERSON FINAL EXAM at ASPIRA from 4pm-7PM
Driving for Session II students will be scheduled on off days and weekends.
MARCH Classroom Session III: 
    Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, March 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th from 4PM-7PM
Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday, March 15th, 16th and 17th from 4pm-7PM
Wednesday, March 17th will be an IN PERSON FINAL EXAM at ASPIRA from 4PM- 7PM
Driving for Session III students will be scheduled on off days and weekends.
 
APRIL Classroom Session IV:
    Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, April 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th & 16th  4PM-7PM
    Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday, April 19th, 20th and 21st from 4pm-7PM
    Thursday, April 21st will be an IN PERSON FINAL EXAM at ASPIRA from 4PM- 7PM
    Driving for Session IV students will be scheduled on off days and weekends.
    
 
MAY Classroom Session V:
    Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, May 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th  4PM-7PM
    Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday, May 10th, 11th and 13th  from 4pm-7PM
    Thursday, May 13th will be an IN PERSON FINAL EXAM at ASPIRA from 4PM- 7PM
    Driving for Session V students will be scheduled on off days and weekends.
 
The online classroom phase of the ASPIRA Driver Education Program will meet the State of Delaware requirement of a minimum of 30 classroom hours of Driver Education with a certified driver education teacher. 
 
Driving Phase
Once students are scheduled to be in the driver education car, they will be required to wear a mask, per CDC recommendations.  All cars will be sanitized after each driver completes his/her scheduled drive.
Possible Driving Schedule Time Slots
(Students will be scheduled for 3, 3.5 hour slots.)
Monday-Friday 4:00 PM – 7:30 PM
Saturdays: 6:00 AM – 9:30 AM
9:30AM-1:00 PM
1:00 PM-4:30 PM
Sundays: 9:30AM-1:00 PM
12:00 PM-3:30PM
1:00 PM-4:30 PM
 
 
Students must pass both the Classroom Phase and Driving Phase in order to receive a Blue Certificate.
Cost:  $590        Exception Cost:  $30, please read below for an explanation for this cost.
Exception Cost $30: Students who are home-schooled, or who attend a private school with less than 25 sophomores enrolled, or who live in Delaware and attend high schools in other States, may take the alternate course for an administrative fee of $30 if they are currently enrolled as a 10th grade (as of 9/15/2020) and are deemed eligible to receive driver education funding from the State of Delaware.
 
In order to be eligible to take the classroom phase of ASPIRA Driver Education Program, all students must have successfully completed 5 credits (2 in core areas), during the 2019-2020 school year, and are required to bring in a copy of their final report card on the first day of the class as proof of eligibility for the program.
Students (Registered in the November Session) who turn 16 after May 1, 2021 are not eligible to enroll in the 2020 ASPIRA Fall Driver Education Program.  However, they could be eligible for our Spring 2021 classes.
Driver Education is offered free of charge during the school year to all Delaware tenth grade students enrolled at public or private schools that have at least 25 sophomore students. Students who choose to not take the Driver Education course during the school year, or who do not successfully complete the course during the school year, must pay $590 to take ASPIRA’s Driver Education Program.
Registration:  Please click the “Registration” form below at the bottom of this page to sign up.  Checks should be made payable to “Las Americas Aspira Academy” and mailed at least two weeks prior to the desired classroom session. ASPIRA  Driver Ed. and your student’s name should be placed on the memo line on the check.
