The first meeting of the Mt Sophia Academy Rhetoric team is Wednesday, September 18, from 2-3:30 in Room 1 at Mt Sophia. The team is for 9th to 12th graders and confident 8th graders and is open to ALL homeschoolers – you do not have to be an MSA diploma program student to join. The monthly meetings of the Rhetoric Team (a fancy name for the Speech Team) serve two purposes. The first is to allow the students to learn how to speak in front of people in a very low-key environment. Its second purpose is to offer the opportunity to participate in several different competitions (competitions look great on your high school transcript- especially public speaking ones). If your student is interested in joining the team, go to the mtsophia.com website, click the “Forms” tab, and click the “Rhetoric Team Registration Form.” Dates of the meetings and competitions are listed on the form.
