Ashley Shorey

Ashley Shorey started her Education degree at Patrick Henry College before deciding she wanted to use that degree in the mission field and transferred to Washington Bible College for more Bible training. Just shy of finishing her degree in education/missions, her fiance was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer on Christmas Eve, two weeks before their wedding day.  A whirlwind of cancer, chemo, and a miracle pregnancy later, she found herself in her dream job of mother, pastor’s wife, and later homeschool teacher.

Ashley is a lover of words and enjoys reading, writing, speaking, and listening to good forms of communication. She has found deep joy in teaching Writing and Literature to middle school and high school students at her various co-ops for the past 9 years. Helping students find their voice and learn to communicate clearly and skillfully has become a passion. She believes in encouraging student’s growth as individuals, helping them to strive for excellency in themselves, not in comparison to others.

Ashley has been married to her favorite person for 20 years and counting. She is mother to four fabulous children ranging from 8th grade to Sophomore in college, all of whom were homeschooled from the beginning.  If she ever has free time, you can find Ashley seeking refreshment in nature, the perfect cup of chai, or a good book.
