Kay Hampson is a mom of 7 and a grandmother of 5. She graduated from the Easton Radiologic School of Technology in 1980. She has been married to Dean for 38 years. She enjoys music, playing on the worship team, painting, doing math, and umpiring. Summers, she can be found hiking in one of our national parks.
After graduating college, Mrs. Hampson began working at Kent General Hospital eventually leaving the work force to raise and educate her children. She ran a co-op in Dover until her children had graduated and then she taught 5th & 6th grades at Covenant Community School. Appoquinimink School District hired her as a homebound teacher, which she is still doing. She also worked for Fundamental Tutoring and began tutoring students in her own home. She joined the teaching force here at Mount Sophia six years ago. She teaches Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and geometry to level 2 students; those who don’t particularly love math and aren’t looking towards a math future. She teaches geometry and stats & probability at the college prep level. She offers three sciences: biology and chemistry, alternately, & forensics. She also offers sociology and literature courses. Mrs. Hampson has been teaching approximately 30 years.
