Grizzlies,
We had some fast swimming and more State Qualifications at our last swim meet. It was really self-motivated swimming since we did not have many close races. The girls won 74 to 38 with the last 5 events exhibitioned. The boys won 46 to 18 with the last 7 events exhibitioned.
The girls team finished with a record of 9 wins and 1 loss this year (6th place out of 40 teams in the standings on Websites4sports). The girls team has had either 1 loss or zero losses the last 3 years in a row. The boys team finished with a record of 7 wins and 3 losses (12th place out of 39 teams in the standings on Websites4sports). The boys team exceeded our expectations this year. They really worked hard together and dropped a lot of time all season long.
We had more State Qualification times. Emi Cranker swam a State Qualifying time in the 500 Freestyle. Abby Rose swam a State Qualifying time in the 100 Butterfly. Abby also lowered her State Qualifying time in the 200 Freestyle. Marissa Baker swam a State Qualifying time in the 100 Backstroke. Both Abby Rose and Marissa Baker swam State Qualifying times in all 8 individual events this season. Emi Cranker swam State Qualifying times in the 7 individual events we swam her in and would have also qualified in the Breaststroke if we had put her in it. That is quite a team that has 3 individuals who can do that. If that were not enough, we had two additional members of our girls team who swam State Qualifying times at this meet. Rebekah Marks swam a State Qualifying time in the 50 Freestyle, and Gabby Hoffer swam a State Qualifying time in the 100 Breaststroke!! This year at States, we will have girls swimming in 9 of the 11 events!!
One Team Record was broken at this meet! Emi Cranker broke the record in the 500 Freestyle by 2 seconds!
Another big surprise at this meet was someone VOLUNTEERING to swim the 500 Freestyle right before the race when she had never swam the event before! Yeah, I can’t remember that ever happening. After swimming for us for 5 years, Charlotte Mason, in her last meet, decided she wanted to swim that event, and she did a great job of it! She joined the 850 yard club, as she had already swam the Medley Relay, the 200 Freestyle, and finished with the 400 Free Relay! Congrats, Charlotte, that was exciting!
We had a lot of self-motivated personal best times at this meet! Cai Hepner swam a personal best time in the 500 Freestyle, dropping 52 seconds down to a 6:57.63 and getting back on the all-time top 16 list for this event at #12. Reilly Magargee swam a personal best time in the 200 Freestyle, dropping 5.5 seconds. Reilly is currently ranked #6 on the all-time top 16 list for this event. Reilly also swam a personal best time in the 100 Butterfly, dropping 5 seconds and moving from #10 to #7 on the all-time top 16 list. Emi Cranker swam a personal best time in the 500 Freestyle, dropping 3.75 seconds down to a 5:36.06 and moving from #2 to #1 on the all-time top 16 list. Gabby Hoffer swam another personal best time in the 100 Breaststroke, dropping 3.25 seconds down to a 1:19.44 and moving from #12 to #7 on the all-time top 16 list. Gabby also swam a personal best time in the 50 Freestyle, dropping 1.75 seconds. Jacob Rainbow swam a personal best time in the 100 Breaststroke, dropping another 3.25 seconds and moving from #15 to #13 on the all-time top 16 list. Jacob also swam a personal best time in the 100 Butterfly, dropping 0.75 seconds. Jacob is currently ranked #9 on the all-time list for this event. Abby Rose swam personal best times in both the 200 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly. Abby is currently ranked #2 in the 200 Freestyle and #5 in the 100 Butterfly on the all-time top 16 lists. Seth Freer swam a personal best time of 1:09.72 in the 100 Freestyle as relay leadoff, dropping 0.5 seconds. Caleb Quinones swam a personal best time in the 100 Freestyle. I need to add one ranking change that I missed from the Polytech meet. While I reported that Henry Rhein had swam a personal best time in the 50 Freestyle, I did not mention that his time of 26.24 moved him from #15 to #14 on the all-time top 16 list for that event.
We also had a few more new personal best relay split times. Logan Edge swam a personal best 100 Freestyle split time of 1:00.32, dropping 0.5 seconds.
